We’ve just completed a redesign of the Longford County Enterprise Board website. The aim of the redesign was to freshen up and modernise the existing site. We worked within the existing framework as much as possible to keep costs low.
This was the homepage before the redesign:

And this is the homepage after the redesign:

The following are some of the key areas we addressed:
Graphic Design
We added subtle design elements such as background colours to compartmentalise page areas & elements. A photo was added to the banner area which until then had been quite stark. Other graphic embellishments were implemented throughout the site.
Improved Navigation
The existing website had one large navigation menu containing over 10 menu items. We made the navigation system more user-friendly by creating three separate navigation areas containing logical content groups:
- a dedicated services menu enables visitors to see at a glance services offered by Longford CEB.
- a horizontal menu below the banner contains links to general site content e.g. about, business directory, contact.
- a minor menu above the banner area contains peripheral items e.g. site map.

The new services menu clearly outlines the services available
Featured Content
A featured content area is prominent on the homepage, inviting readers to read further:

Featuring prominently on the homepage, the visitor is drawn to these featured content areas.
Call to Action
To encourage visitors to make contact with Longford CEB we placed contact details prominently on the banner with a clear benefit and call to action – “For business advice, information & support call…”

A clear call to action is visible on each page.
Training Courses
To highlight the broad range of training courses offered by Longford CEB we included a training course newsfeed prominently on the homepage. This feed displays upcoming courses and is updated automatically as courses end and new courses are added to the system.

An RSS feed ensures that up-to-date training courses always display on the homepage.
Social Media and Engagement
To encourage ongoing visitor engagement we included graphic links to Facebook and an Email Newsletter on the homepage.

Graphic links inform the visitor about other channels for communicating with Longford CEB.
